Primary school | Priory Primary School, Hull |
---|---|
When were you in year 6? | 2001-2002 |
What do you do now? | I am now a primary school teacher |
Did I.M.P.S. help to influence this in any way? | It made me want to pass on knowledge to others. My mum was and still is an I.M.P.S. Trainer and I especially remember the visit. We had great fun using and applying the steri-strips and plaster cast. |
Have you ever used any I.M.P.S. skills? | Fortunately I have not had to use anything that requires much attention other than grazed knees, bumps and bruises at school. |
Does your job require you to use any risk management, injury prevention or first aid skills? | Yes, teaching definitely requires a greater awareness of risks in order to prevent or reduce them. I also have regular first aid training most of which I learnt from I.M.P.S. Being taught to be more aware of dangers and increasing on that knowledge allows for a better understanding of how to avoid accidents. This is a really good basis for school life as a teacher and also for the students. |
Do you think your I.M.P.S. training has made a difference to you? | It has made me more aware of what could potentially be dangerous. I have also found the first aid knowledge very useful especially now I am the teacher rather than the student. |
